Bring ‘The Snail and the Whale’ to life in your classroom!

About the show

Join an adventurous young girl and her seafaring father as they reimagine the story of a tiny snail’s incredible trip around the world, inspired by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s much-loved picture book. This acclaimed production by Olivier Award nominated Tall Stories was recorded in October 2020 and is now available for schools to watch on-demand in three lesson-friendly 20-minute instalments.

The production, alongside the book, provides the ideal centrepiece for a topic for Reception to Year 4. An additional activity pack provides plenty of activities, behind-the-scenes content and cross-curricular potential.

Teacher Feedback

“A great way to expose my students to the arts.”

“My students clapped at the end of the performance. They were so engrossed in the tale that I think they forgot they were sitting in the classroom and the actors were on the screen!”
