Access performances

Tall Stories is committed to making sure our productions are accessible and open to everyone and we aim to be an industry frontrunner in providing performances which accommodate a range of audience needs and abilities. Our Summer 2015 run of ‘The Gruffalo’ included the first ever relaxed performance for the 3+ age group in the West End.

 

BSL Signed and Captioned Performances

Open to all, and either signed by a British Sign Language interpreter or captioned with text for families and children with hearing impairments. The BSL interpreter is usually integrated into the show and so will move around the stage with the performers.

Audio Described Performances and Touch Tours

Open to all, and will use audio description for families and children with visual impairments. Touch tours are specifically for families/children with visual impairments. As part of the audio described performance, audience members will have the opportunity to touch the set, props and costumes before the performance in order to firm up the details of the production and engage with the show.

Relaxed Performances

Relaxed performances are designed for families and children with additional needs. They are designed to provide an opportunity for people with autism, learning difficulties or other sensory and communication needs who require a more relaxed environment. There may be small changes to the show such as to the lighting and sound. We produce visual guides to help audience members know what to expect from the performances, which are available on request.
