NEWS
Summer 2011 Things are busy at Tall Stories. Our new show Mr Benn had a lovely time at the Edinburgh Fringe in August as well a short tour in the UK. He’s currently resting up but watch this space for a possible return from this extraordinary show!
Room on the Broom returned from 4 months touring in the US followed by a short and fun 10 days in Dubai. The Witch and her friends will be back in the UK for Christmas – you can catch them at The Orchard Theatre in Dartford, Leicester Curve and finally Birmingham Town Hall. Twinkle Twonkle will be in residence at the wonderful Roundhouse in Camden for Christmas, after which it will be touring America for 3 months.
The Gruffalo and The Gruffalo’s Child have also had a busy year, with Gruffalo touring in Germany and his daughter set to open at the Junges Theatre in Bonn in the next few weeks. Both shows continue their tour of Australia and New Zealand too with The Gruffalo making his debut at Sydney Opera House this September.
Back in the UK, The Gruffalo’s Child continues to tour and will be performing at ArtsDepot in London this Christmas. Mr Gruffalo himself will be back in the West End (dates to be announced shortly) before setting off on tour next year. Watch out too for The Snow Dragon, which starts touring in September and will be jetting off to Hong Kong as part of its tour, as well as performing at Chelsea Theatre this Christmas.
On top of all this Tall Stories are proud to announce that we have a new home. On July 4th we will be taking up residence at Jackson’s Lane in Highgate. Whilst we’re sad to leave The Institute and the friends we have made here, we’re very excited to be based in a busy theatre again and to be part of the continuing exciting developments at Jacksons Lane.
Xmas 2010 All seven seasonal shows are now open! So far we’ve had great audiences and some lovely reviews. We’re now busy planning our new show Mr Benn (previewing at north London’s ArtsDepot on 30 April/1 May), as well as various international tours. The Gruffalo’s Child is also touring the UK from February onwards…
July 2010: Twinkle Twonkle and The Gruffalo are touring the UK. Room on the Broom opens at London’s Garrick Theatre on 28 July. Twinkle Twonkle is off to the Edinburgh Fringe for August. From September 2010 we’ll be teaching an evening class on storytelling theatre at our home The Institute.
February 2010: Twinkle Twonkle is on its way. We have received funding from Arts Council England for this astronomy-themed show and we are collaborating with the Royal Society in their 350th birthday year. See Twinkle Twonkle for details.
October 2009: Tall Stories has moved. We are very sad to have left the Compass Theatre, but after three and a half years of mammoth commuting, we have moved closer to central London. Our new home is The Institute Arts Centre in East Finchley. There are more details on our Contact page, but to email us, please always use info@tallstories.org.uk or “firstname@tallstories.org.uk”.
Our first collaboration with The Institute is 26-28 October, when we’re helping with their halfterm programme of creative workshops for kids aged 7-13. Click here for more details. And we’ll be previewing our new seasonal show Them With Frozen Tails at the Institute on 21 November.
